It's new year again!

5, 4, 3, 2, 1.. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Well, I didn't count down this year. Basically I just ran out to the balcony to see the fireworks. I feel a bit emotional when I realized 2008 has passed. There's an impulsion in me.. felt like grabbing 2008 and don't let it pass.

I think 2008 has been a great year to many. Almost all the memories in 2008 are worth remembering and I told myself that 2008 is one of the most meaningful year in my life so far. It was my turning point when I stepped into this place where I am now, the college of nursing. It tasted sweet and sour.

January
I stepped out of my cozy house and lived 5/7 days in hostel. It was a miracle when I found out that I am placed in the same room as Jessica. Praise the Lord! I have 51 new found friends. The orientation week was... quite bitter but stretching my patience. Till this day, I still carry the orientation trauma they caused me...those days where there was no such thing as freedom of speech.. That day when they told me to be silent instead of standing up for my friend who didn't greet the senior because she wasn't wearing her contact lenses. Now, I realized it isn't just about orientation. Life in the ward has to be like that too sometimes. Speaking up can caused a lot, and it takes a lot to voice out our own opinion for us, the students. Maybe it's about all girls environment kind of a thing.

February
It was chinese new year. And the most memorable thing was to spend it with Jack, Zach, Pick and Grace. I put a stop on something that was half hanging after knowing some painful news. Oh! And I got a special delivery at college on Valentine's Day from a very good friend. That was a shock! The first Valentine delivery of the day in my class. Hahaha.. You should have seen some of my friends' look - WHERE'S MY PARCEL? Anyway, some of them received theirs later in the evening. It was a very happening day that day.. Most of us went out - some with boyfriends, some celebrating single's day out. I went to Starbucks, I remember.

March
I think nothing much happened this month.. Oh, we had our food fun fair thing and we went to watch Friends Forever the musical. And... I gave a miracle offering during my church's anniversary (and I will never regret it).

April
Something bad happened this month I remember. I thought it was an April Fool's joke but it wasn't. Other than that, had quite a tough time with some of my seniors due to some misunderstanding. Had my finals for semester 1. It was a very challeging month. Started my first clinical posting. I miss church!!

May
Yay! My birthday month! Got 3 celebrations :) One with family, another with godparents and of course with my collegemates. Results were out too. Got a new phone as birthday present! I can't thank God enough for His grace and strength.

June
Back to studies.. Stressful with all the assignments. Nothing much I guess.

July
Woo hoo! Juniors came in. Orientation.. pet sis thing.. The day when my pet sis found out that it was me all the while was so sweet. I had to be annonymous before that, it was a rule.

August
One of my patients passed away when I was on my annual leave. I thank God I said goodbye and few last words before I left that day. He kept saying thank you. I was so touched because he was a grumpy old man all this while. I didn't expect that those will be my last words to him till I see him in heaven again. He was the only patient so far whom I have sat down together and read the Bible to him. He was a blind man, by the way. That day he complained severe pain and I had to divert his attention from the pain he was having. Thus, I thought the best encouragement would be from the Word of God. It lasted about 15 minutes before he complained of pain again. Uncle Lum, this is dedicated to you :)

September
Assignments, assignments and assignments..! I only sleep 4-5 hours every night. My good friend, Grace flew to UK. And 9 of us went to Genting Highlands. It was a long trip to come back to hostel as we took bus, lrt then cab. Had a memorable time with Sab too.

October
Even more stressed up. Last minute assignments, backdrop for Open Day, finals for Sem 2, performance for CON night.. wow, have to juggle with all these. Thank God there was a good teamwork. We helped each other to complete the tasks. I'm so glad that we pull it through!

November
CON night, Assunta night.. I think I won't turn up in Assunta night next year unless my friends are performing. At clinical area.. This time, I miss church like 3 weeks in a row. I couldn't get my off day on Sunday. Sister changed her job.. Did my first night shift. I enjoyed it especially the eating heavy meals at wee hours part. It was quite difficult to set back the normal time.. it's my fault also lah because I was a couch potato back home till late night.

December
Christmas time! I got quite emotional on several occasion, realizing that I was missing out so much in church. I miss the activities held in church.. but one day, one sister from church told me that there are different seasons in our lives which requires our devotion. She cheered me up with her words. Anyhow, I got my off on the weekend before Christmas and on Christmas day. I learnt to enjoy where I am now. We went carolling in the wards.. one po po was so touched that she cried. Aww... The end of the year wasn't so smooth but standing firm on God's promises in a better year to come. Oh, and I watched fire works at hostel's laundry because I had to work on 1st Jan.

And 2008 just slipped away.

Thank you so much Lord for 2008..

I think I've learnt so much in this year. God gave me avenue to improve my strengths. He gave me more courage and confidence just like He has promised. I learnt to step out of my safe zone once in a while. Well, I still need to improve in the year to come.

What do I want to do in 2009?
I want to travel... visit my aunt in Australia if I get enough off days.
I want to be more diligent and lessen the procrastination.
I want to trust God more.

Ultimately, like in John 3:30 "He must increase, but I must decrease."

Blessed New Year everyone!
